- There will be a senior class meeting with the Principal, Dean of Academics, Dean of
Students, and the College and Career Counselors to discuss expectations for the school
year
- Students should verify their class schedules for accuracy - know what courses are
needed for graduation
- Visit the College and Career Counseling Office and meet with your counselor
- Sign up to attend one of the College Admissions Counselor visits in the College and
Career Counseling office
- Develop good study skills
- Get involved with activities, clubs, and organizations. Choose activities that you enjoy!
- When you apply to college or for jobs, potential schools and employers look for a person who is "wellrounded" and someone who is not afraid to get involved
September
- Students who are experiencing difficulties with and of their academics should reach out to the Dean of Academics and the College and Career Counseling Office
- Pay close attention to college and military deadlines
- Attend the NKY Regional College Fair and visit college websites to learn as much as you
can about different colleges
- Look to attend college fairs that are held in the state and surrounding area
- If you are interested in playing an NCAA Division I or II sport in college, you must
register with the NCAA Eligibility Center www.eligibilitycenter.org
October
- Students should review their study habits and work to improve in the areas that need attention
- Applications to institutions with Early Action or Early Decision Deadlines should be sent
in this month (or earlier)
- Be sure to notify the counselor when you have submitted an application for admission
so that an official transcript can be sent
- Scholarship information is received in the office daily and will be sent home to parent via
MSP on Friday afternoons (unless deadlines perpetuate the need to be sent earlier)
- Complete your High School Resume
- Request letters of recommendation at least two weeks in advance and supply your High
School Resume to your recommenders
- Bring all letters of acceptance to the counselor so we can recognize you and your
accomplishments
- Register for the next ACT or SAT if needed for college admission or scholarship
opportunities
- End of first quarter - October 16, 2015
- Parent/Teacher Conferences - October 29, 2015
November
- All applications for admission to the colleges you are interested in should be submitted
by Thanksgiving unless earlier deadlines are posted
- Begin gathering information you will need to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for
Federal Student Aid)
- Plan to attend the FAFSA workshop on November 3, 2015
- Register for the next ACT or SAT if needed for college admission or scholarship
opportunities
- Thanksgiving Break - November 26-27, 2015
December
- End of second quarter - December 18, 2015
- Prepare of end of semester exams
- Scholarship deadlines have either passed or are coming up be sure to check deadlines
for the colleges that you are interested in attending
- Talk with your teachers to see how you can get prepared for the second semester during
the holiday break
January
- Students should focus on proper time management and study habits
- FAFSA is now opened
- Finalize any college applications that are still outstanding
February
- Students who are experiencing difficulties with and of their academics should reach out to the Dean of Academics and the College and Career Counseling Office
- If ROTC or the U.S. Military Academies are in your future you need to begin this process
in the spring of your junior year visit us in the College and Career Counseling office for

March
- Continue to bring all letters of acceptance to the junior/senior counselor so we can
recognize you and your accomplishments
- End of third quarter - March 11, 2016
April
- Spring Break - April 4-8, 2016
- Prepare for your AP Exams and final exams
- May 1st is the National Deadline to confirm your attendance at the college of your choice
so be sure to send in your confirmation of enrollment and any fees that may be required
May
- End of fourth quarter - May 26, 2016
- Students enrolled in an Advanced Placement course should verify the course
requirements with their teacher
- Finish strong - remember your admission and scholarship are contingent upon the
successful completion of your courses
- Final exams May 24-26, 2016
- GRADUATION - May 29, 2016
- Congratulations! You are a graduate of BBHS - be sure to request that your final
transcript be sent to the college you will be attending in the fall
