This Spanish Honor Society was founded by the American
Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese in 1953 for
the students of North American secondary schools. This chapter
is due to the efforts of Bishop Brossart High School who
established it in 1992. The name of our chapter is Isabel Allende, in honor of one of the most famous
Latina authors of
the twentieth century who will continue her work well into the
years to come.
Motto:
Tener otra lengua es poseer otra alma. (To have another
language is to possess another soul.)
Students in the Sociedad must maintain an A average
in Spanish and a B average in their other subjects. They also must
actively participate in the extracurricular activities of both the World
Culture Club and the Spanish program such as:
v
Spanish breakfast during International Week
v
Annual WCC Carnation Sale
v
National Spanish Contest
v
World Language Festival at NKU
v
Beginning and Intermediate Spanish level class visits
