Golf Team Information

TRYOUTS WILL BE HELD THE SECOND WEEK OF JULY FOLLOWING THE KHSAA DEAD PERIOD

LOCATIONS WILL BE PUBLISHED IN THE JUNE NEWSLETTER & ON THE SCHOOL WEB SITE.

ALSO, STUDENTS WHO HAVE SIGNED UP WILL BE CONTACTED BY PHONE.

PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BE FAMILIAR with THE CORRECT RULES, TERMS & Etiquette. PARTICIPANTS SHOULD HAVE A 9-HOLE AVERAGE OF 45 OR LOWER. THE 9-HOLE AVERAGE OF THE 4 STARTERS ON THE TEAM RANGE FROM 39 TO 45.

WORK HARD DURING THE SPRING & SUMMER BY DOING THE FOLLOWING:

-                       Participating in junior leagues & tournaments

-7  UP JUNIOR TOUR

-N. KY. JR. AMATEUR

•    You can enter and apply by going to the following web site: www.nkjrgolf.com. Up-dated information will not be available at this site until late January or early February.

-                       Getting private lessons if needed.

-                       Playing at least 3 times a week during the summer.

-                       Playing 18-hole rounds as much as possible.

-                       Carrying your bag. Do not use a pull cart or riding cart.

-                       Playing a variety of courses over the summer. (The team does not play every match on the same course.)

-                       Lift weights or use the elastic thera-bands.

-                       Practice, practice, practice putting. (The most important part of the game.)

-                       Practice your short game. (Chipping)

-                       Practice at the driving range until your swing becomes automatic. It’s more important to practice at the range & putting green than playing an actual round of golf.

THE NUMBER OF BOYS SELECTED TO THE TEAM IS BASED ON THE NUMBER TRYING OUT, 9-HOLE TOTALS, KNOWLEDGE OF THE RULES, PARTICIPATION AT TRYOUTS, DESIRE FOR THE GAME, ATTITUDE, CHARACTER, ATTENDANCE, HONESTY & PUNCTUALITY.

PHYSICALS ARE REQUIRED PRIOR TO TRYOUTS. THESE FORMS CAN BE PICKED UP IN THE SCHOOL OFFICE ANY TIME OR MAY BE PRINTED FROM THE SCHOOL WEB SITE.
